j Vargas (they/them) is an artist, and a teacher. They have over a decade of experience teaching art and various modalities in community settings and have been an exhibiting artist in San Diego for seven years. They have completed over 150-hrs of behavioral-therapy training and an additional 150-hrs in trauma-informed, ancient somatic arts from the various lineages and modalities we will explore together in Lakapati.

They are committed to resurrecting land based folk art, with their ancestors guiding them, as a means of somatic experiencing and emotional re-witnessing.They will be guiding this years gumas in multiple ceremonies throughout the school year as well as leading a once a month halo-halo (in-person community) night on Olhone Lands.
